CIVIL CIVICS
Whether it be between council members, council and staff, or most importantly, between council and Saanich residents, I will work tirelessly to re-establish collaboration and open communication in Saanich. Councillors need to be able to put aside personal conflicts to ensure appropriate attention is given to the concerns of the greater community. Furthermore, we need to increase our transparency and accountability by reducing in-camera council meetings.
I would also like to see an increase in community engagement. Something I believe that Saanich should adopt from the city of Victoria is having each councillor as a neighbourhood liaison. As such, when you have an issue or a concern you can bring it to the attention of your neighbourhood liaison. This person can act as your first point of contact at Saanich Municipal Hall and help you connect with the right staff, department, or service available.
